Receiving Sherwood College’s Guest of Honor Award from Principal Amandeep Sandhu. Background left:
Brigadier General (Retd) Harkirat Singh.
My Alma Mater, Sherwood College located in the foothills of the Himalayas bestowed a great honor upon me. The college invited me as one of their guests of honor for the school’s Sesquicentennial celebrations (150th Anniversary) Returning to my old school after 37 years was a joyous and powerful experience to say the least.
As some of you may know my father sent me to Sherwood College in 1979 at the age of 9 in order to get a better sense of my Indian roots. I often made this journey from New York city alone, taking a 24 hour Pan Am flight as an unaccompanied minor that would stop in 6 different countries before reaching Delhi. From Delhi it was another 12 hour journey by bus through the winding mountain roads to Nainital. In short, the experiences I had a Sherwood College had a profound effect on me, and in the end played an important part in the making of Relief Riders International. I will be posting batches of photos of what was an incredible celebration in the days to come! I hope you enjoy the photos.
There are only a few spaces left on this remarkable journey of purpose connection and adventure that will leave you and the people you meet.
Amandeep Sandhu, Principal of Sherwood College was invited as Chief Guest for the Finals. 117th Rampur Cup Football tournament held between the Punjab Heroes and the AIIMS Team.
